Delightful Duke Bourbon Dinner at Hyatt Regency Newport Beach

The Hyatt Regency Newport Beach is home to a wonderful summer-filled jazz concert series that runs from June to October. The lush tropical ambience sets the tone for lovely evenings under the stars. This night was no exception, as we were escorted through a canopy of trees and well-dressed tables and into the Wine Cellar. This is a secret little find of a spot as we descended to the cellar. Five Crowns… Our Beloved Classic Restaurant Is Now Wearing A Tiara!

A special occasion calls for a special place. Don’t you think? So…when we recently celebrated our 20th Wedding Anniversary (glup), we went to SideDoor and Five Crowns in Corona del Mar. I have a list of new spots to try, however we wanted something special, that we know well, and never disappoints. Enter Five Crowns.

It was a stellar evening. We started in their gastropub SideDoor which is a favorite of ours. We pretend we are in England or some cozy European bar. I...

Sports Bar Standouts In Newport Beach

Fall is here, and the sports frenzy is in full swing. October is the only month when we can enjoy pre-season, regular season and play-off games for baseball, basketball, football and hockey. Sports fans are in sheer heaven. I set out to find the “stand out” sports bars right here in Newport Beach. Keep in mind that this is based on my opinion, and does not cover every single bar with a television set. However, I have sought out what I consider to be the “best of class”. ...

A Delicious Sense of Place At Hue Oi Vietnamese Cuisine

I was recently invited to visit an authentic Vietnamese restaurant in the heart of Little Saigon. It was delicious, unique and quite a family affair. The name is derived from the famous city in Vietnam, called Hue. Hue Oi Restaurant began in Garden Grove, but soon outgrew its location and moved to Fountain Valley just across from the Mile Square Golf Course. They will be adding a second location in just a few weeks in the South Bay/Redondo Beach---but more on that later.

Little Saigon in...
