The Orange County Burger Week Begins Sunday, July 14 and runs thru Saturday, July 20, 2019!

What It’s All About-

There are a staggering 57 restaurants all over Orange County that are participating. They have created some awesome burgers and entrees for guests to enjoy. Our local Chefs have gotten really creative and the menus look incredible. There is nothing like a delicious, juicy burger with all the fixins! And even vegetarians are covered—Beyond Meat is a partner, there are even some other veggie burgers and chicken too! (I have listed those restaurants featuring the Beyond Meat burger.)

Menu prices are:  $10, $15, $20 and $25.  There are 21 restaurants have added custom cocktails and some with an entire menu of specialty cocktails featuring Burger Week partners: Maker’s Mark bourbon, Hornitos tequila, Effen vodka and Cruzan rum.

Dee’s Tips On How To Do OC Burger Week Just Right-

  1. There are seven days and seven nights, so pace yourself.
  2. Go to this web site and click on participating restaurants. Click on a few of the names and up will pop their menu and descriptions. The restaurants are listed alphabetically at:

  3. Select some that you would like to try, and maybe step out of your comfort zone to try something brand new. 
  4. Print out this article as I have organized the entire list BY NEIGHBORHOOD. So as you travel about town, you can refer to this list and find a spot to enjoy OC Burger Week. Some have created specialty cocktails with the partners, while others have created a whole cocktail menu. You can thank me later, but have this list with you at all times and be “at the ready” for a week long burger-mania jam session! 

I don’t get the craze but lots of people sure do, including my husband. Beyond Meat patties will be available at these restaurants during Burger Week: Cambalache, Matador, Pickled Monk, Salt Creek Grille, Skyloft, TAPS, Toast and Villa Roma.

Examples of A Few Enticing Menu Items and Cocktails-

Here are just a few of the many burgers that sound delicious to me. This will give you just a sampling of the creativity that our local chefs are putting forth for this Burger Week.

Burgers-

Prego Ristoranti- Chicken Parmesan-Ground all white meat chicken, coated with parmesan, topped with imported Italian mozzarella, marinara, and fresh basil

Cambalache- Villa Roma Argentine Burger- Half pound of Angus prime Entraña (skirt steak) grounded with green onions, pepperoncini, mustard, sea salt, black pepper, homemade mayonnaise and our famous chimichurri spread with green lettuce, tomato, grilled onions, toasted bacon and avocado in a brioche bun. Want a add more Argentinean style ask to be served a caballo (with two fried eggs). Served with our delicious Fries alla Provençal or Green Salad.

SeaLegs At The Beach- Burgeritto- A juicy brisket / chuck blend patty served with melted cheddar cheese, grilled onions fresh tomato, romaine lettuce, dill pickles chips and hand cut French fries, all wrapped in a toasted flour tortilla

Avila’s El Ranchito- Hamburguesa Saavedra- A juicy, handmade 8 oz. ground beef patty topped with pulled carnitas, melted jack cheese, guacamole and Avila’s Mexican cream on a toasted brioche bun. Served with a fried jalapeño.

The Country Club- The Gentleman Kraken- Dry-aged beef & bacon patty, grilled Spanish octopus, pickled jalapeno & fennel slaw, roasted piquillo aioli, squid ink bun.

Cocktails Anyone?

Most of the restaurants serve beer & wine while many have a full bar. Some restaurants, such as Zov’s are pairing wine or beer with their burgers. There are 21 restaurants that have created a special cocktail to complement the OC Burger Week partnerships, and here are a few of the unique beverages I plan to try next week! 

The Green Mermaid- Hornitos Reposado Tequila, lime juice, agave, fresh muddled mint, cucumber and serrano peppers ($10 at Avila’s El Ranchito and other menu items as well). 

Roasted Lemon Sour- Maker’s Mark bourbon, fresh squeezed lemon and agave nectar shaken and served over a large ice cube with a roasted lemon garnish ($13 at Mozambique).

El Matador- Effen vodka, mint, lime, fresh blackberry and Red Bull ($12 at Tanner’s). 

Rum Forrest Rum- Cruzan rum, blackberry and pineapple ($12 at Toast Kitchen & Bakery and other menu items as well).
