Entry 2Rooten’s Luggage Store is a mecca for anyone who likes to travel. They have everything you could possible imagine, and the staff is over-the-top helpful. They listen to what you are looking for, at any price point, and try to help you find the perfect solution. (Located right near John Wayne/Santa Ana Orange County Airport.)

They have creatively developed Seminars on “The Secrets of Packing and Traveling Tips”. Rooten’s hosts travel talks by world travelers and travel experts. The speakers have developed the content (from experience) and deliver fantastic presentations meant to inspire, inform and help travelers of all ages.

They are offered once a month or so,  are really fantastic! I have just taken my second Seminar and both times I have learned so much. The speakers show you how to pack a week’s worth of clothing by just using one small Eagle’s Creek folding envelope. And with the weight restrictions now in play, all these tricks really do help make the experience easier. From the latest in shoe cubes, to plastic containers for getting through the security line quickly, they have so many ideas to share. There is underwear you can purchase to rinse out and is ready to go the next day (vs. bringing 12 pair), suit cases that make rolling much easier on your back, cubes the size of an ear plug that become a washcloth when submerged in water.  They have luggage tags, small containers, a clear case to keep your phone or camera safe, all types of wallets with the RFID blocking (very important for protection against ID theft) and sleeves to protect Passports too. They carry all the hot brands of luggage—such as:  Rimowa, Briggs & Riley, Tumi, and about 10 other brands as well. From small carry-on bags to larger suitcases and spinners, the list goes on and on.

The complimentary Seminars occur on Saturday mornings at 10:00am. The schedule for upcoming Seminars include the following dates: March 1, April 5, May 10, and June 7. Please call to book your reservation. I had a friend join me and then we had lunch and talked about our next travel adventure. Make a fun day of it!

The Clothing is impressive here for both men and women. I wandered in there this past weekend and spotted this gorgeous jacket that was reversible, with a hood, and a matching bag. This was going home with me for sure, and so it did!  They had pants, and tops and hats and all kinds of items that were made with travel and easy care in mind. They also have a lovely selection of compression sox. And these are not just for the older set. It is very helpful for all travelers on long flights.

I also have heard that Steve Rooten and his store support Kiwanis of Santa Ana, a service organization dedicated to helping children– mainly those physically or financially challenged.  This is not the first year they have donated significant merchandise to the annual fund raiser, and I really appreciate their philanthropic efforts as well.  Let’s support this wonderful resource, all under one roof. Call to get your name on the list for the next Seminar. It really is well worth the hour and a half. Has made a huge difference for me and both times I attended I brought friends who travel and they too were really glad they came along!

  1. Great article on Rooten’s Travel Store. A bit of a correction though: “They have creatively developed Seminars on ‘The Secrets of Packing and Traveling Tips'”. Rooten’s hosts travel talks by world travelers and travel experts like myself. The speakers have developed the content (from experience) and deliver fantastic presentations meant to inspire, inform and help travelers of all ages.

    1. Thank you for your comment and I will note the correction. The reason I had written it that way was the first time
I had attended their Saturday Seminar, it was one of the Salespeople or Managers who had led the class. It was not
an outside travel expert. But this time it was a Representative from Briggs and she did a wonderful job. I learn
some thing new every time!!! But I will make that correction. Thank you!
