On Saturday, February 27 from 10 AM – 4PM
Roger’s Gardens is proud to present the 4th Annual “Day of Art.” This event hosts 50 talented artists to paint and draw in the Gardens for the day, representing their creative interpretation of Roger’s Gardens. And the best part is that guests can observe them painting, attend two excellent workshops and observe the Awards Ceremony too!
A painting by each of the participating artists will be on display and available to the public for purchase. We will be judging the 50 original artworks and presenting awards and recognitions. Also guests have the opportunity to be an artist for the day by joining us at our scheduled workshops and demonstrations. For the schedule of events, see below or visit the Art Gallery page at www.rogersgardens.com .
SCHEDULE OF EVENTS:
Printmaking Workshop: Printing Posies and Plants 10 AM – 1 PM
Location: Amphitheater
Local artists Sheryl Seltzer and Carol Kreider will teach you to create
your own art print inspired by the beautiful flowers and plants of the
gardens. Guests will draw and transfer to a small relief plate as the
instructors ink the plate and the guests “pull” their own print! This is a
rewarding art project for all skills and ages. Instructor Sheryl Seltzer
has a studio in Laguna Beach and teaches at Concordia University.
Awards Ceremony 12 PM
Location: Outdoor Living
Ten awards of excellence will be presented to the 50 participating
artists. These artists will be recognized for their outstanding
inspirations and interpretations of Roger’s Gardens through their
artworks. The judge is Gil Dellinger, a retired professor of art of the
University of the Pacific, Signature Member of The Pastel Society of
America, California Art Club, and PAPA, Plein Air Painters of America.
Drawing Workshop: Journal your Garden through Art / Drawing
Leaves and Flowers in the Garden 2 PM – 3:30 PM
Location: Amphitheater
Learn to draw leaves, flowers, and a few drawing secrets from
perspectives of botanical art instructors Deborah Shaw, Clara
Josephs, and Diane Daly. This is a great workshop for the whole
family, as no art experience is required. All three instructors are
members of the American Society of Botanical Artists, along with the
Botanical Artists Guild of Southern California. They have taught and
been represented throughout the country with many notable
museums and cultural centers.
